Apparently, Windows Vista and greatestjournal's ads don't like each other.

I turned off ads on most of my GJ character journals, I believe, but apparently they still show up on the userpics pages (viewing them, not editing them), so every time I go to the userpics pages from this computer (the laptop with Vista on it), Firefox freezes. It was doing that for userinfos, too, until I turned off the ads.

But this is irritating the heck outta me. >O

Anyone know any REALLY GOOD ad-blocking Firefox extensions?

I have decided that I hate PBs.

Nevermind the fact that I make PB icons. I just do not like the concept of PBs.

For users of LJArchive: I would suggest going up to tools --> options and unchecking the box that says "sync on startup." If the journal is merely deleted, it doesn't affect the saved archive, but I have no idea what will happen if, say, GJ implodes, so it would be better safe than sorry, yes?


(btw, sync on startup does exactly what it says: when you open ljarchive, whichever archive you'd been looking at last will automatically log in and sync to any changes made to the journal, though not if you open an archive you've already saved. If the journal has been deleted, the posts and comments will still be saved. But again, I don't know what will happen if it tries to sync and the whole site is gone.)

Like I said, I'm wary of trusting GJ. And it turns out I was right to not be trusting GJ.

So, we have 100 icons back and we can create new journals.

With everything going on in my personal life lately, I'm wary of trusting GJ. I'll stick around here for now, but anything important will be cross-posted elsewhere. I'm quite frankly taking the sudden "oh hey, icons and new journals" as nothing more than a sign of impending doom. If system actually managed to fix the problem practically overnight, then ... yay system. But I've grown up around computer engineers and my dad is a computer forensics expert, so I know it's not that easy.

That said, an updated list of where to find me (also known as me pimping my other journals >>):

• Personal (as in I actually talk about myself, not my characters) journal: garnet_sunrise @ lj. It's friends only, and please comment to the FO post and lemme know who you are.
• Non-PB-icons: smoothyrus @ lj. Because I actually do make icons that aren't PB icons. Actually, most of my icons on this journal are from there. XD
• Backup CDJ: kitten_patronus @ ij. I've copied over my basic information stuff, all my lists and statistics and tables and stuff, plus my 25 flavors ficlets that I really need to write more of.
• Backup PB-icon-journal: flannel_girl @ ij. I've copied most of my icon posts over there. What I left out were the ones I didn't like (the ones with the white border), but those will still be found on flannel_girl here as long as GJ's alive, and I'll always have them on my computer if you absolutely love that style for whatever reason. Any new icon posts will be cross-posted on GJ and IJ, just to be safe for if / when GJ actually goes belly-up.

I'm moving to InsaneJournal. Same name (kitten_patronus) and everything. If anyone else has IJs that they're switching to, friend me there. If anyone else is bailing ship to a different journal system, lemme know and I might bring k_p there, too, to keep track of y'all.

WHAT THE HELL, GJ? TEN ICONS?

(don't go check your icons on the edit page, it'll do the same that happened when we dropped to 100 icons)

UM OKKAY EVERYONE. Let's HELP GJ. Maybe if we can get lots of people across the whole RPing spectrum to do this, we can save GJ!

OPERATiON: SAVE GREATESTJOURNAL

1. Delete all those broken images! GJ got rid of our pictures, but actually deleting them might help!
2. Delete unused journals or old journals you don't care about. Consider using LJ Archive and then deleting the journal? This is perfect for games you were in for maybe one or two updates then left. DELETE IT!
3. Get rid of some icons if you have old journals with more than 100 icons!

TELL OTHERS TO DO THE SAME.
